Liddy McCallTim Grogan LLB, BSc

Chairman, Director

Tim is a co-founder and Executive Director of Fusion Life Sciences and is involved in corporate and business development activities with a range of life sciences organizations in the Asia-Pacific region. He was formerly the VP for Commercial Development and Licensing at Starpharma Pty Limited, an ASX listed (ASX:SPL) biotechnology development company based in Melbourne. Tim was a founding director of Dendritic Nanotechnologies Limited based in Michigan and prior to joining Starpharma, he was responsible for Business Development & New Technologies with Monsanto Australia's agriculture business and was a Director of Ag-seed Research Pty Ltd. He was previously Director, Technology Transfer & Commercialization with Freehill, Hollingdale & Page and established a new technology management business, now known as FTS. Tim graduated from the University of Melbourne with degrees in Science (Chemistry) and Law and practised in commercial and intellectual property law with Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

James WilliamsJames Williams BSc (Hons), PhD, MBA

Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director

James has broad experience initiating and managing health technology companies. As CEO of both public and private companies, he has a strong track record in transitioning academic research projects through to regulatory approvals, production and marketing launches on time and within budget. James is also a co-founder and Director of Tessitura Pty Ltd, a specialist biotechnology commercialisation consultancy. He is a non-executive Director and co-founder of iCeutica Inc, which is commercialising a technology co-invented by James, to reformulate drug compounds at the nano-scale. Prior roles include leading a university based research group investigating the molecular and cell biology of cancer. James was former Chair of the organising committee for the WA Inventor of the Year Awards, and is a former State Chair for AusBiotech - Australia's biotechnology industry organisation. He has published in international journals and holds a number of patents. James was awarded a WA Business News 40under40 award in 2005.

Matthew MacfarlaneMatthew Macfarlane BCom, CA

Director

Matt has spent 11 years working in mergers & acquisitions throughout Europe with PwC Consulting, Swisscom, Deutsche Telekom and global data-communications company Equant.

Matthew led Swisscom's $300m investment in Malaysia and over US$50m of venture capital investments into early stage start-ups on behalf of Equant. He also led that company's negotiations for the US$8 billion merger with Global One as part of a majority sale of Equant to France Telecom.

Matthew co-founded the Web 2.0 technology start-up, Vibe Capital raising over $2.7m of funding for the business. Vibe launched the niche parenting community Minti in March 2006 and licensed its core technology to US-based GreatSchools.net in 2007. Matt has been CFO of Vibe Capital since its creation.

Most recently Matthew co-founded the venture capital business Yuuwa Capital which was successful in obtaining access to the Federal Government's $20m matching Innovation Investment Fund program.

Rob NewmanRob Newman BEng (Hons), PhD

Director

Rob has more than 15 years experience as an entrepreneur in Australia and Silicon Valley. Throughout his career Rob has played a leadership role in building successful technology businesses. Highlights include being the Founding CEO of Atmosphere Networks (optical networking) which was sold to Ditech for US$123 million, and co-founding QPSX Communications, an early leader in the carrier packet switching equipment market. Rob is a co-founder and Executive Director of Stone Ridge Ventures, a Perth-based venture capital firm and Dimerix investor.

Kevin PflegerKevin Pfleger BA (Hons), MA, PhD

Chief Scientific Officer

A/Prof Kevin Pfleger is the Chief Investigator of the Dimerix-funded research program being carried out in the Laboratory for Molecular Endocrinology under agreement with WAIMR and the University of Western Australia. Kevin is one of the world's foremost authorities on the use of bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) technologies to study G-protein coupled receptors. He has published the seminal review and protocol for BRET in Nature Methods and Nature Protocols respectively, as well as publishing a novel derivation of the BRET technology, termed eBRET, that now enables prolonged monitoring of protein-protein interactions in real-time over timescales not previously possible. Kevin is co-inventor of the GPCR-HIT technology assigned to Dimerix from the University of Western Australia.

Business Development

Liddy is director and co-founder of Tessitura Pty Ltd, a company commercialising early stage biotechnology companies. Tessitura supported the development of Dimerix from initial research conducted at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR). Liddy's experience includes drug development, transplantation and medical device projects. She is a co-founder and was a director of iCeutica Inc, which is commercialising a technology to reformulate drug compounds at the nano-scale. Prior roles include Associate Director, Corporate Advisory Group of Macquarie Bank where she completed numerous international corporate transactions.

Tony Mason PhD

Executive Scientific Advisor

Tony Mason has worked for over twenty years in the Biotechnology Industry. This has included ten years with pioneering company Genentech, six years with Biota and a three year period with Serono and Bioimage in Europe. He has published over sixty scientific publications and holds ten patent applications. Tony has had a very successful track record in research management in a commercial environment, with experience in taking projects from early stage through to development. He has a broad experience in endocrinology, virology, oncology, immunology and high-throughput screening technology.
